| Celebrate in style at Royal Oak THERE’S nothing quite like traditional pub grub – as Joe Shepherd, landlord of the Royal Oak in New Bolingbroke, can testify. The pub and 36-seater restaurant has undergone a £10,000 kitchen re-fit and launched two new menus since Joe and his wife Jo, along with son Luke and his partner Martine, took over. And this August, the team will be celebrating their first anniversary at the pub with some special weekend entertainment. Over the past year, the Royal Oak has been developing a good reputation for the quality of its fare, priding itself on great food at realistic prices. If you’re feeling a little untraditional, why not try a specialist burger with a wide selection of meats including wild boar, kangaroo and ostrich. Every dish is home-made using as much locally sourced food as possible and is complemented by a good selection of beers, wines, and spirits. The Standard has teamed up with the Royal Oak to give one lucky winner the chance to sample some of the Royal Oak’s food for themselves. We’re offering a voucher for a meal for two in its restaurant worth up to £40. To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is answer the question on the coupon and press the "Submit request" button by Wednesday, June 25. Entrants must be aged 16 or over. The usual Johnston Press competition rules apply. |
