Change your smile, change your life!

Preparing teeth for the procedure

As a coffee drinking, wine-loving smoker I was a bit skeptical at the idea of having my teeth whitened by a whole three shades.

I know as well as anyone that sometimes brushing alone is not enough to remove the stains of excess, including red wine, coffee and nicotine which is why when I found out about the Dental Studio's new teeth whitening system I was more than happy to give it a try.
Upon entering the Dental Studio, on Broadway, Woodhall Spa, the first thing I noticed were the plush sofas and huge TV.

Ready to apply the hydrogen peroxide gel.

I immediately had a feeling of comfort, despite standing in the middle of a dental studio.
On looking round I found a smaller, quieter waiting room with the same sofas and feeling of comfort plus an up to date selection of magazines.
While sitting down and waiting I found my mind wandering and taking in the various prints on the walls and the bright décor, not the fact of where I was or what I would be having done to my most prized possession - my teeth.

As I was led to the treatment room I became aware of a welcoming feeling, enhanced by the leather chairs in the corner of the room for a friend to accompany me.
I was fully informed about the whole procedure and potential side-effects such as sensitivity.
The procedure itself was just a small part of the whole experience and although taking more than an hour to complete did not make me feel uneasy at all, I had complete confidence in the abilities of the dental technician and dental nurses who dealt with me.

After protecting my gums and face from the bleach and ultra violet light which would be used during the procedure, my teeth were coated with a hydrogen peroxide gel before they were exposed to three sessions under an ultra violet light - 15 minutes each.
I cannot tell you it was the most enjoyable experience I have ever had as it was not, however the confidence I gained from having the procedure done made the slight discomfort worth every minute.

The ultra violet light activates the
teeth-whitening.

Along the way I felt happy to ask questions if there was something I did not understand and was satisfied with the answers I received which were given in a way I could understand with all technical information explained in simple terms.
Looking back I can honestly say I have never smiled as much as I have done after the procedure since my wedding day.

Sometimes we all neglect something to do with our appearance, maybe work or homelife just gets on top of us and we find ourselves promising to do it 'later' and then never seeming to have the time, well take it from me - neglecting your teeth can really reduce your confidence.
At the time you do not even realise how much it does affect you, it suddenly becomes second nature to cover your mouth when talking or avoid smiling and showing your teeth, you do it without even realising.
After the procedure you are suddenly hit with a kind of confidence you would only ever dream of having.

Before

After

I found myself smiling more, holding my head high and walking with a completely new stance, as if I was on top of the world and nothing could ever bring me down from it.
The change was so instantly noticeable by my husband who said if he had known how much confidence such a simple procedure would give me he would have happily paid the £399 cost years ago.
